Ingredients

  • 2 cups broken wheat
  • 3 cups sour curds
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup diced carrot
  • 1/4cup green peas
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated coconut
  • ½ tbsp. ginger garlic paste
  • 3tsp vegetable oil

Steps

  • Heat little oil in a pan, add the broken wheat and saute till they turn pink in colour.
  • Cool, add the salt, curds and cumin seeds ginger garlic paste and blend in a mixer till smooth, using water if required to make the texture smooth.
  • Cover and keep aside for at least an hour.
  • Add in the carrots and coriander into the batter.
  • Grease the idli molds using oil with the help of a silicon brush. Pour a spoonful of batter on top and steam in an idli steamer or a cooker for 15 minutes or till cooked.
  • Serve hot with sambar and chutney.
